Membership

The over 6000 worldwide members of the ESICM (and the over 500 ESPNIC joint members) include a diverse group of highly trained professionals who provide care in specialised care units and work toward the best outcome possible for seriously ill patients. Following our Statutes, the Membership classes are:

ESICM Members

An ESICM member may be any physician residing in or outside Europe, who is interested in intensive care medicine in Europe (as defined in Appendix 1).

ESICM Members in Training

Trainees in intensive care medicine can benefit from a reduced membership fee for a maximum of 3 consecutive years of membership during their trainees time.

Honorary Members

A member who has served this Association well, or a person who has made a major contribution to intensive care medicine, may be elected as Honorary member by the Executive Committee. Honorary Members and Society Medals webpage

ESICM Associates

An Associate member may be any nurse or allied healthcare professional who is interested in intensive care medicine.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

ESICM Members, ESICM Associate and Training shall pay annual fees according to criteria detailed in the Standard Operating Procedures.

RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES

ESICM Members, ESICM Members in Training and Honorary members may participate in the business and scientific meetings of the Association. They may vote. ESICM Members and Members in Training are eligible for office in the Association.

ESICM Members residing outside of Europe may participate in the business and scientific meetings of the Association. They may vote. They are eligible to represent the International members or may be elected as scientific section chair/deputy chair in Council.

Associate members may participate in the business and scientific meetings of the Association. They may only vote and be eligible for office in the Nurse and Allied Healthcare Professional Committee of the Association.
